The start of a trip of a lifetime

The start of a trip of a lifetime.

Ryan Sheridan will play our Sunday Sessions Live 2 gig at Whelan’s on October 22 (tickets here). The Monaghan man is currently on tour in China and he’s going to give us a tour diary during the trip.

Day 1.

“Myself and the band arrived in China after 32 hours of planes trains and automobiles! Everywhere is huge, full on and hectic. A culture shock hits you as soon as you come into Shanghai; 23 million people in the city and I think all of them were in the train station while we were waiting to board!”

“We were waiting for a few hours so we sat down and played a few tunes in the station before going to one of the most spectacular restaurants any of us have ever visited.”

“We took the highspeed train to the “small” city of Xuzhou, it has a population of only 10 million and seems to have no internet connection.”

No sooner had we arrived when we were whisked off to sample local Chinese cuisine at a BBQ, which where we are at the moment.”

“It’s an insult in the country to refuse anything we are offered so we’re currently trying a “lamb” dish and not too sure what it is… Everyone in the restaurant is taking photos of us as the only Westerners in the place, we’re a bit like an attraction but everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming.”

“Brilliant first day and playing festival here tomorrow. There are loads of posters around the area with my face on them, it’s strange to see so far from home especially when you don’t have a clue what they say! Stay tuned.”
