Sky gets slapped on the back for 800 more jobs
There's some more good news on the job front today as the incredibly profitable digital TV service Sky is creating 800 jobs.
The positions will be created over the next two years at a new customer service centre for the TV provider. Sky says they need extra staff to deal with growing demand from the Irish market. We obviously just can't get enough TV.
The centre will open later this year in August and be based in the Burlington Plaza - very swanky.
The company says they will begin recruitment immediately and are looking for customer service managers, advisor roles, HR positions and a variety of others.
Jeremy Darroch, Sky Chief Executive, said of the announcement: "I’m delighted that we are opening a centre in Ireland. We hope to recruit a committed and enthusiastic workforce and look forward to making further contributions to the local community."
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton got in on the act too, saying: "This is great news, and represents a very welcome vote of confidence in our workforce and in the Irish economy by a leading company..." - you can pretty much fill in the rest from there.
The company already employs over 18,000 people in Ireland and the UK and has 10.5 million customers. If you're thinking of applying you can go to www.skycustomercentres.com where you'll find all the necessary application forms and stuff.
