Dig those shorts out lads, our mini-summer is coming...
We know we have been here before but honestly, this time, a real heatwave is going to hit our little island for the next few days.
Okay, we know. The promise of good weather has been made so many times now you don’t want your heart broken again. From cancelled barbeques to sodden beer gardens, you may have made plans all summer only to see them dashed by wind, rain, hail, floods and probably locusts in some places.
But the lads at Met Eireann, despite all the abuse they get, are still churning out the forecasts and they are telling us that the next 48 hours are going to pretty good. Really good in fact.
They are forecasting a rain-free day across the country tomorrow with temperatures to hit a balmy 23C. Friday should also be rain free all across the country with the mercury going up another degree to 24C.
Even Saturday, which matters more to us all, should be grand, with the heat only dropping back a degree or two. If you don't believe us, here's the link to Met Eireann's five-day forecast.
As always, it could all be horribly wrong but we are in a positive, Olympic medal-winning mood so we are willing to believe one more time.
It surely wouldn’t rain while Katie Taylor is doing so well, right? (Yep, that was a gratuitous, and tenuous, Katie Taylor link. You will be seeing a lot of that over the next few days in all media, we're just getting you used to it).
