Independent Deputy Mick Wallace will use half his Dail salary to repay his company’s €2.1million settlement with the Revenue Comissioners on unpaid VAT.

The blonde-haired, flamboyant soccer-enthusiast TD for Wexford admiited that he misled tax chiefs on the issue pertaining to his former property company MJ Wallace saying that he was not beyond reproach.

In a fifteen minute speech to Dail he also admitted that the money would not likely be repaid in full.

The TD highlighted the good work he had done in certain areas such as special needs and claimed that he was overwhelmed by the support he has recieved in his constituencey.

He also admitted considering numerous options in the wake of the scandal.

“Have I considered running in a by-election? I have. Have I considered quitting and walking away from politics altogether? I have,” said Wallace before saying “but I have never been much of a quitter.”

He finished by stating his commitment to the people who had elected him. “I am priveleged to serve the people of Wexford. I will continue to serve the people of Wexford...this  is their seat not mine.”
