US Vice-Presidential candidate and Mitt Romney’s Republican running mate has hit out against claims that their campaign is misogynistic in a very unusual way.

The Republicans have been under attack from Democrats for their supposed “War on women.” Democrats are claiming with Republican plans to cut back funding for organisations like Planned Parenthood amongst other policy moves Romney is advocating show that the Republican campaign this term is profoundly against women.

Yesterday the Republican Vice-Presidential candidate of Irish descent Paul Ryan hit out at this rhetoric at a private fundraiser saying, “Now it’s a war on women; tomorrow it’s going to be a war on left-handed Irishmen or something like that.”
