He may be one of the biggest names in Hollywood, but clearly Liam Neeson’s grasp of American sport leaves a lot to be desired.

The Taken star made a guest appearance on Sports Center and was asked his thoughts on the New York Jets' 34-0 defeat to the 49ers, a game the Irish man had attended.

The Irishman looked like a rabbit in the headlights, clearly shocked that a sports presenter was daring to ask him a sports question.

He cursed, asked to start again and then realised he was live on air before conceding it was his second ever game of football and didn’t quite understand the rules.

We know the man will do anything to plug Taken 2, but perhaps this wasn’t the best approach his agent thought of.

The American audience seem more upset with his choice of language than his lack of knowledge on American Football if the video title ‘Liam Neeson drops the S-bomb on Sportscenter' is anything to go by.

Got to love the Americans!
