A Beautiful Day for the U2 frontman.

Bono had a bit of spare cash lying around in 2009 so he decided to make an investment in an up-and-coming social media site called Facebook. You might have heard of it.

When we say “spare cash” we mean €77 million and for that sum, Bono’s investment group Elevation Partners bought a 2.3% share of the social network.

Fast forward six years, Facebook is the biggest website in the world and Bono is laughing all the way to the bank because that share is now worth just under €1.3 billion. BILLION.

All that money means the Dubliner is now the richest popstar on the planet ahead of Paul McCartney who’s worth €1 billion.

Good man Bono.
