Armed robbers have escaped with €100,000 in cash after a raid on a security van at an ATM in Co. Cork this afternoon.
According to RTE, the raid occured at around 4:30pm when two Securicor staff went to make a delivery to an ATM at a Maxol petrol station on Carr's Hill, Carrigaline.
Both men were held up by a duo of balaclava-clad robbers, each armed with sawn-off shotguns. The two armed men escaped in a black Saab driven by a third male. It is believed that the raiders made off with over €100,000.
BreakingNews.ie are also reporting that the black Saab getaway vehicle is believed to be the same car that was found burnt out later on this evening.
Thankfully, neither of the two Securicor staff were injured during the raid. Togher Garda Station's superintendent Charlie Barry is appealling for witnesses with any information on this afternoon's incident to call the station on 021 4947120.
