The Drogheda area has seen a spate of robberies over recent weeks and, in particular, a series of roof-top burglaries whereby the thieves enter and exit the premises via roof access.

The aptly-titled “Intruders ‘wheely’ wanted Pat’s bicycle” article from this week’s Drogheda Independent reports that one local shop-owner got a bit of a shock when he arrived at his store to find his bike in quite a strange place – dangling from the ceiling after the spoke-tacularly dopey thieves couldn’t quite squeeze it through the hole they entered through.
That’s what she said...
Pat McCormack of McCormack’s Furniture at Greene’s said “Our prices aren’t through the roof and neither is our stock by the looks of it. The burglary was no laughing matter, and they did a fair amount of damage breaking in, but I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw the bicycle dangling from the ceiling the next morning.”
