Irish bus driver on trial for repeatedly kicking Garda in the balls

There are many people out there who dream of sticking it to those in authority… like the bus driver who’s on trial for repeatedly kicking a Garda in the nut sack.

According to The Irish Independent, 53-year old bus driver Patrick Fitzpatrick is in a small spot of bother after he was alleged of an assault against a Garda, Sergeant Neil Crowley, in an incident in Dublin way back in July 2007.

The term ‘assault’ probably doesn’t do justice to this particular case because instead of a run of the mill punch in the face or elbow in the gut, Fitzpatrick is being accused of repeatedly kicking Sergeant Crowley in the bollocks, pushing him off his bus and knocking him unconscious. You heard us.

Going by the report in The Irish Independent, the two men have wildly differing version of events.

Sergeant Crowley said that while in an unmarked car on the quays, he saw a bus taking up two lanes, approached the bus and after pulling it over and asking for a license, was told in no uncertain terms to f**k off by the driver, Fitzpatrick, who he says was like “a man possessed”.

Sergeant Crowley then said that Fitzpatrick fell on the steps claiming he was assaulted and when Crowley went to check on his wellbeing, he was met with an old-fashioned kick in the balls.

Crowley went back to his car for assistance before returning to the bus and another struggle ensued in which Crowley was booted in his nether regions again before being pushed off the bus, when he hit his head and was knocked unconscious.

Fitzpatrick, on the other hand, claimed that he was assaulted by Sergeant Crowley, who he said struck him on the wrists with his baton and fell out of the bus when Fitzpatrick was trying to give him his driver’s license.

The trial is ongoing and we'll eventually find out who was telling the truth but if the Sergeant's story is true then that can't have been pretty.

Getting kicked in the sack repeatedly and then getting knoced unconscious? That's a world of pain right there. Ouch.
