Necessity is the mother of invention, as they say and these lads from Offaly are certainly proveing it right with this innovative use for liquorice.

After one of these lads had a bit of bike trouble, he called his mate to come and collect him in the car, but without any rope to keep the boot shut, they're not sure exactly how to make sure the bike doesn't fall out.
The solution? Take a quick pit stop in the shop and stock up on liquorice, of course.


With a bit of elbow grease and probably a bit of a sugar boost from eating their makeshift rope, the lads made the journey home with the bike safely in tow. Top stuff.
