Rubberbandits compare councillor to North Korean dictator after hoodie-ban

As fine exponents of the hoodie, the Rubberbandits have criticised a councillor’s plea to ban the wearing of items of clothing in the town.

The Limerick band gave a very much tongue-in-cheek interview with The Irish Sun where they took exception to Michael Kilcoyne’s comments that hoodies should be banned in Castlebar as criminals are using them to avoid identification on CCTV.

The Limerick duo were not best pleased with such comments, and have likened the councillor to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, sarcastically suggesting he is a “forward thinker”.

“We must take example from other countries in which the government has banned certain clothing, such as North Korea,” they told the paper.

“In North Korea, the people live very happy, crime-free lives as a result of wearing clothing that are approved by the government. It’s time for Irish people to step up and make a change.”

The lads elaborate on a pi**-take of the claims by Kilcoyne, before hailing him as a potential leader of the country.

“Govern me, I am your humble servant Mr Kim Jong Kilcoyne.”

The call for a ban on hoodies follows a growing number of such bans in the UK, where anti-social behaviour is linked with those wearing hoodies.

“Any time I’ve worn a hoodie I become overwhelmed with a desire to throw a bag full of pennies through the glass of a bus stop,” the lads added with even greater sarcasm.
