Outspoken Ryanair boss today dismissed holidays as a waste of time and says flying with his own airline costs him a fortune in ‘excess baggage’.

In a typically to-the-point interview Management Today, O'Leary also stated that he is underpaid relative to his peers.
“I’m paid about 20 times more than the average employee, and I think the gap should be wider,” he said. “I was paid €1.2m last year for carrying 80 million passengers. Aer Lingus's boss [Christoph Mueller] got €1.3m for carrying nine million passengers.”
He was pretty frank in his views about holidays, labelling them as a ‘complete waste of time’. O’ Leary claimed he only goes on holidays with his wife and four children as they are ‘traumatised’ if they don’t go somewhere, which sets him back a tidy sum in baggage charges, a bone of contention for most Ryanair passengers.
He says that the company still wish to buy Aer Lingus as he believes they could do a much better job in running the business.
“We can run it better, but that's not setting the bar very high,” he added in full confidence.
We here at JOE admire the Ryanair supremo for straight talking and the rest of the interview can be read here.
