By Declan Whooley
The growing numbers of Irish citizens in Oz will feel a little closer to home knowing that one of their favourite fast-food chains could soon be on their doorstep.
Galway man McDonagh founded the chain in 1978 and today there are more than 100 outlets throughout the country, with a further four expected to open in the next 12 months. He sees great potential in the Australian market.
“There are more people applying for Australian visas than ever. Hopefully, we’ll be opening overseas over the next 12 months,” he is quoted as saying in the Galway News.
“With the number of requests we have from people who have been back, we see there is a demand for it out there,” he added.
Fans of the Supermac Burger and Taco Fries in Oz are in for an Irish treat in 2013.
