Rory McIlroy's visit to Stormont Castle yesterday ended in trouble after he showed Martin McGuinness how to swing a club. The Sinn Féin man narrowly missed hitting an assistant with a wayward shot.
The US Open champion arrived at Stormont to meet Northern Ireland's Deputy First Minister McGuinness and the First Minister Peter Robinson to show off his silverware and to give the politicians a golf lesson.
First up was Robinson, who kept his cool to feebly chip the ball a few yards. However, McGuinness had other ideas, and after he took McIlroy's advice on board, he gripped and ripped.
McIlroy could barely watch as McGuinness looked mortified while his shot fell short of the civil servant. When he missed it was laughs all round.
McIlroy is currently taking some time out for himself by attending a few matches at Wimbledon and heading to Germany this weekend for the David Haye v Wladimir Klitschko fight.
