While most people were gripped by the Love/Hate buzz, you may have missed Pat Rabbitte conceding that breaking election promises is to be expected.

The Week in Politics may not captivate most people late on a Sunday night but this week was notable; the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources were all probed by host Sean O’ Rourke about broken promises made before the recent election.
Sinn Fein’s Pearse O’ Doherty was also on the case of the Minister, before Rabbittte admitted matter-of-factly “Isn’t that what you tend to do during an election?” when asked if he admitted to breaking pre-election vows.
He didn’t exactly pull a rabbit out of the hat by admitting that politicians will say one thing and do another in power, but we didn’t expect anyone to admit it on television.
