Fancy living like a Bond villain? Then check down the back of the sofa and try and rustle up the money to buy this private island in Clew Bay.

The Irish Times property section, incredibly, still exists and while we now sob deeply as we flick through its much slenderer offerings, occasionally it serves up a treat. Like this.

A man named Nadim Sadek has spent €9million on an island in Clew Bay in Mayo called Inish Turk Beg and now you can buy it, for €2.85m.

The Irish-Egyptian businessman bought the place 10 years ago and he has turned it into what sounds like heaven on earth. Sadek now lives in London. Maybe the weather finally got to him.

Anyway here’s the details:

There are five houses on the island including a magnificent main residence. There are also reception and craft centres, a pier, a separate floating jetty, an all-weather football/basketball complex, facilities for a home cinema, a gym and games complex, a large indoor heated swimming pool and an outdoor sound system.

The main residence is an imaginatively designed contemporary two-storey house with six bedrooms, a number of spacious reception rooms and a music hall.

It only takes five minutes to reach the mainland by power boat but, if you have one, the island also has a helipad for your helicopter. And if you have nearly €3m in your account, you probably have a helicopter.

And if you don’t, indulge your inner Hank Scorpio, give the bank a call and see will they lend you the money.
