An Irishman has died following a drowning incident in Portugal.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has said that it is aware of the incident and that it is providing consular assistance to the man’s family. It is believed that the man is in his 60s and from the Dublin area.

The incident took place near Lisbon on Friday night.
