Enda Kenny has been elected as Taoiseach

Kenny has received 59 votes in favour of 49 against.

In the end, the Mayo native received 59 votes against 49. https://twitter.com/RTENewsPaulC/status/728580462956924928 Of the 59 votes that the Taoiseach garnered, 50 were from Fine Gael, two were from Michael Lowry and Katherine Zappone, five were from the Independent Alliance and two more from rural TDs. Despite receiving the majority of the votes required, Labour leader Joan Burton, who is of course vacating the Tánaiste position, had claimed that the party would not be voting for Kenny's re-election. Meanwhile, the 43 Fianna Fáil TDs abstained from voting, along with Independents Michael Healy-Rae, Michael Fitzmaurice, Maureen O'Sullivan and Noel Grealish.
