Tragic news.

One person was killed and two others are being treated for burns following an explosion in a home in County Louth.

The incident is said to have happened just after midnight, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The explosion may have been caused by a boiler, which then resulted in a fire at the house in Beaulieu, according to Gardaí.

They are not treating the incident, which took place on the Termonfeckin Road in Drogheda, as suspicious.

It is being reported that the person killed in the incident was a 28-year-old Latvian male.

The two people who were injured – reported as being a Latvian male and female – in the explosion were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
