Firefighters dealing with a massive gorse fire in West Cork

A large gorse fire has broken out on the Sheep’s Head peninsula in County Cork.

Two fire engines and a tanker are dealing with the fire which is sweeping through the peninsula, located close to the popular town of Bantry in West Cork.

Also, in Kerry, a gorse fire is said to be burning over a significant area of hillside in Gortamullen.

One unit of Kenmare Fire Service was at the scene this evening.
