Homenews

You don't have to tip a bucket of ice over your head.

People and their profile photos on Facebook, eh. It's fair to say only a select number make the cut, and they'll probably include one of the following: A duck-face selfie You with a celebrity You with a tiger in Thailand You with an alcoholic drink in your hand (because you're great craic) You outside a famous landmark A photo of you filtered to the point where it's not you anymore And so on. Krasinski People are now posting their first ever Facebook profile photo on their page, and it's turned into a way of raising awareness and funds for mental health. It's a global thing, but someone in Ireland who did it asked their friends to donate €4 to Mental Health Ireland by texting 'MHI' to 50300, and it's taken off. In the last 24 hours, over 300 people have followed suit, which is brilliant considering the importance of mental health awareness.

Mental Health Ireland support people who experience mental health difficulties on their journey of recovery.

They also provide training and education about positive mental health awareness to community groups and work places nationwide.

The money raised from the Facebook campaign will go directly to provide Training Bursaries for people undertaking training in mental health awareness.

Good on you if you've donated, and it beats being soaked with an icy bucket of water.

Remember, to donate €4 to Mental Health Ireland, just text 'MHI' to 50300.
