Boeing 767 forced to make emergency landing at Shannon Airport

The flight was from London to Newark.

United Airlines flight UA-17 was forced into making an emergency stop at Shannon Airport earlier today.

The transatlantic flight was cleared to land at Shannon and did so without any difficulties.

A spokesperson for Shannon Airport confirmed to JOE that the flight experienced technical difficulties and requested to land there on Wednesday afternoon.

“A United Airlines flight from London Heathrow to Newark made an unscheduled landing at Shannon Airport today at 13.55 hours due to technical difficulties,” the spokesperson said.

There was 216 crew and passengers were on board, and the aircraft landed safely.

It is not confirmed yet as to whether or not the flight is set to continue its journey today.
