Gardai last night revealed details of an incident that occurred in January of this year.
A 21-year old motorist who was detected driving at 208 km/h in a 120km/h zone in wet conditions in January was recently sentenced to three months in prison, fined €1,000 and disqualified from driving for four years.
An Garda Síochána revealed that the Naas Traffic Corps detected the motorist driving at dangerous speeds on the M7 motorway between Monasterevin & Kildare in January, when the road was wet, temperatures were as low as 4 degrees and there was plenty of traffic.

An Garda Síochana Facebook page, “probably one of the highest speeds the Naas Traffic Corps have come across” and as a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) was not an option in this case, the driver was summoned to appear in court.
Having been convicted of dangerous driving, the 21-year old male will serve three months in prison and has been disqualified from driving for four years; he will also be required to re-sit his driving test after the disqualification period.
