We all knew that this day would come, when finally The Wire and the League of Ireland have crossed paths.
By Adrian Collins
In JOE's humble opinion, The Wire is the greatest show that was ever on television. A proper story-arc, character development, drama, it had it all, and we're man enough to admit that the end of season four had us saying that “we've just got something in our eye”.
As if the show and its stars couldn't get any cooler, Wendell Pierce, who played bad ass detective William “The Bunk” Moreland has admitted that he has Irish roots, and he supports a League of Ireland team: Saint Patrick's Athletic.
Pierce was talking to The Sunday World about his new show Treme and that there might be a trip to Ireland on the cards for himself, given that it is the Gathering this year after all.

He also said he couldn't wait to get over and check out a St. Pat's game, so if the League of Ireland needs a new celebrity spokesperson, it's got to be Bunk.
If you're not familiar with The Wire, you need to be, there's no choice in the matter, so here's our favourite scene which is extremely NSFW:
