Galway, Dublin and Cork have been named in the top ten friendliest cities in the world by Travel and Leisure magazine.
Galway impressively claimed the number one spot in the poll but the other two cities didn't do bad either with Dublin coming in 3rd and Cork 4th.
One review said that Galway won readers’ hearts with its festive nature, lively population, and musicality.
"Fiddlers and banjo-players, flautists and whistlers bang out traditional Irish reels on pedestrian streets and in all the pubs," the review said.
Another claimed that Galway people were the "friendliest people they'd ever met" and as this JOE writer hails from the west coast, we can indeed confirm that this is true.
The magazine praised Cork highly, "In the country’s largest county, verdant hills bloom with wildflowers, rivers run through ruins, and courteous locals welcome visitors with open arms."
