Are you a fan of roller coasters? If so, you're going to love Alton Tower's new €21m, 14-loop monster called 'Smiler', which opens later this month.
Adrenaline junkies will be delighted to hear about this new roller coaster that has been designed with the help of psychology experts and scientific researchers. Why has it been designed by some blokes in long white coats? Well, mainly because Alton Towers want’s to “mess with your head”. Lovely.
'This ride will put not just your body but also your mind through its paces,’ said Katherine Duckworth, one of the team who came up with the concept for the ride.
'We want people to get off the ride and not know what is real. There are five different mind effects, which are all designed to mess with your head. You shoot towards giant syringes, spinning hypnotic wheels, and flashing lights, among other things.'
The ride is designed to set real fear into the heart of the person on it and it’s 14-loops have put it in the Guinness World Record Books for the ride with the most loops. Smiler also includes a 98ft drop and it will So it’s definitely not for the squeamish.

While it’s a good video, we have a feeling it doesn’t do the ride any justice and we can safely say we’ll be heading over to the UK for a spin after it opens later this month.
