Homenews

Police in Victoria, Australia have put up a warning on their website urging iPhone users to take extra care when using their iOS 6 Maps, as they've ended up 70km away from their intended destination, lost in the middle of a park for hours on end.

Drivers heading to the town of Mildura, which is surrounded by the Murray-Sunset National Park, have gotten a nasty surprise when they end up stuck on back roads with sandy paths and no way out. The picture above shows the blue pin, where users are trying to get to, and the red pin - 70km away - where users end up if they follow the directions from their iPhones.

Apple has already endured a bit of embarrassment with the problematic Maps app, but these latest incidents could open the door up to bigger problems. One particular user was stranded for 24 hours before he was eventually rescued. With temperatures soaring to 46°C and no water supply, we don't fancy trying that one out for ourselves. We've got our AA Road Atlas and we're sticking to it thanks very much.
