Man dancing length of Britain for charity stopped in his tracks after being hit by a car

An Englishman who was valiantly dancing his way the length of Britain for charity was stopped in his tracks after being hit by a car less than 200 miles from the end of his journey.

34-year old teacher Ben Hammond had been dancing his way from John O’Groats at the northern tip of Scotland to Land’s End at the southern tip of Britain to increase awareness of human rights in Burma and to raise funds to help the cause. And all while wearing a yellow tutu.

Hammond had begun what was a lengthy and we imagine fairly taxing journey given the level of physical activity involved on 13 August and had planned to finish within the next two weeks until disaster struck in Polsham, Somerset on Wednesday night.

According to BBC News, Hammond and an unnamed cyclist were struck by a female driver, who has since been charged with drinking and driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.

Thankfully, Hammond suffered only cuts and bruises and will continue with his quest once he is discharged, yellow tutu and all.

We can only hope that any injuries sustained don’t affect his moves in the weeks ahead, but if he needs any inspiration to solider on, we’re sure he can get it from this guy.
