Turns out Thatcher thought that the Irish we're "all liars" and not to be trusted.

Breaking news just in: Margaret Thatcher is still dead.
And even from beyond the grave (or on her way to it at least), Thatcher still isn’t doing anything to endear herself to the Irish people.
Interviewed on BBC Radio 4 about why he wasn’t attending the ex-British Prime Minister’s funeral today, former Northern Ireland secretary Peter Mandelson revealed that he only ever had one personal encounter with the Iron Lady herself and that she offered him one very sage piece of advice:
“I’ve got one thing to say to you, my boy ... you can’t trust the Irish, they are all liars... liars, and that’s what you have to remember, so just don’t forget it.”
He never did. And neither will we probably.
