A red fox in England had a guilt trip and returned a handbag to the owner after earlier snatching it.
By Declan Whooley
Anna Clarke says that she prefers to think that the fox merely ‘borrowed’ the handbag since it was returned in full.
She said that she was standing in her driveway in West Sussex with her husband Jeremy – no, not the TV presenter – when the animal appeared and snatched the bag out of her hand.
Jeremy gave chase but the four legs were quicker than two and he scurried into the bushes.
However after presumably having an attack of the conscience, the fox returned a short while later with the bag. Sheepishly dropping it at the owner’s feet, he made off quickly again after returning the bag.
“I have no idea why, we couldn’t believe it. We see the fox around quite a bit. I think people feed it,” Jeremy said in The Argus paper.
The clever fox probably realised getting fed was more practical than having a credit card, phone and some form of make-up.
