According to reports this week, Pope Francis may have preformed an exorcism in the middle of St Peter's Square last Sunday following mass.
Exorcisms were a big thing back in the day, but since the advancement of medicine and the internet, they’ve pretty much become a thing of fiction.
However, Pope Francis, who has only been the top dog at the Catholic Church for two months, appeared to preform one last Sunday following mass in The Vatican.
The footage was show on a TV channel owned by the Italian bishops' conference and according to the BBC the station quoted exorcists as saying there was "no doubt" that the Pope had either performed an exorcism or a prayer to free the man from the devil.
The man in question can be seen convulsing a bit when the Pope touches his forehead and then he seems to relax fully just as the Pope finishes his prayer.
However, The Vatican has already come out and denied all claims. The Pope's spokesman said he "did not intend to perform any exorcism".
"Rather as he frequently does with the sick or suffering who come his way, he simply intended to pray for a suffering person.”
That didn’t stop other religious figures in Rome from jumping on the exorcism bandwagon. The Vatican's former chief exorcist, Gabriele Amorth, was quoted saying it “was an exorcism alright" and Gabriele even stated that he had since preformed his own exorcism on the man.
However, this is the same guy who once said "practicing yoga is satanic, it leads to evil just like reading Harry Potter", so we’d take his words with a massive pinch of salt...
