Leinster were scintillating in the sun as they trounced Biarritz at the RDS today and Jonathan Sexton had good reason to look happier about it than most.
The Irish out-half will be leaving Leinster in the summer and Blues fans will miss him when he’s gone after he produced a brilliant performance at out-half and re-established his credentials as a potential Lions number 10 in front of the watching Rob Howley, Graham Rowntree and Neil Jenkins, all members of the Lions coaching set-up.
Sexton scored one of five tries for Joe Schmidt’s side in what was an utterly dominant performance in which they ran out winners on a 44-16 scoreline and after a turbulent few months with injuries, Sexton looked damn pleased about it and why wouldn’t he?

Man of the match Jamie Heaslip touched down twice and Isa Nacewa and Brian O’Driscoll also crossed the whitewash on a day when Leinster hit the heights that have driven them to three of the last four Heineken Cups and on this form, it will take a helluva performance from Stade Francais to stop them claiming another European trophy on home turf next month.
