Commuters in Dublin yesterday would have been forgiven for thinking they had been transported four months into the future. Then they would have remembered that this is Dublin Bus.
Regular users of Dublin Bus probably have enough to complain about in terms of late arrivals, occasionally angry drivers and the often dodgy habits of fellow commuters and they were given another reason to mouth off yesterday after a rather misleading message was displayed on one of the city’s fleet.

The cynics amongst you will argue that this picture could have been taken at Christmas last year or the year before, but the advertisements splashed on the side of the bus for The Bourne Legacy, currently in cinemas, is proof enough that it is indeed a recent snap.
Whether the driver had got a bit confused or was trying to bring a bit of cheer to us all after the Christmas-like weather we’ve endured this summer we’re not so sure, but there’s enough talk about the festive season from November onwards without having to get the ball rolling this early.
Nice gesture perhaps, but just far, far too early.
