Pic of the Day: The awkward moment you realise you’re about to be eaten by a crocodile

Obviously we’ve no idea what this fish was thinking in its final moments, but it seems to be something along the lines of ‘Oh, feck’.

We have the wonders of the internet to thank for this brilliant picture and have no idea of the context of the photo or where it might have been taken, although given the two creatures involved we can say with a fair degree of certainty that it wasn’t in any of the lakes around Ireland.

If we were sceptical, we would suggest that it’s just a brilliant photoshop job, but the amount of saliva dripping from both the fish – it appears to be a piranha – and the croc would appear to confirm it as genuine; certainly even the most talented designers would have to go to a lot of trouble to get that right.

No, chalk this one down to nature, it can be a brutal beast at times. Saying that, how about the face on the piranha, probably the last ever expression it ever made.
