Anyone who’s had a dog that’s passed away will be able to empathise with the police officers who bade an emotional farewell to a German Shepherd on his final journey in Massachusetts.
Kaiser, a two and a half year old German Shepherd, served with the police department in Plymouth, Massachusetts until succumbing to the effects of kidney disease, which led to him being put down in recent days.
Kaiser had obviously had a huge impact during his time on the force, illustrated by a picture that has spread around the internet of a large number of the police force gathering at a local hospital to give him a fitting send-off on what was his last journey before giving up his fight for life.
