Munster v Ulster showdown set for Easter Sunday

25/01/2012 10:18 am

Irish rugby supporters will not only be feasting on chocolate eggs this Easter Sunday, they’ll have a delicious All-Ireland provincial showdown to look forward to as well.

The Heineken Cup quarter-final meeting of Munster and Ulster, arguably the most-eagerly anticipated of all four ties, has been fixed for Easter Sunday at 1.45pm at Thomond Park.

The Limerick ground has been a fortress for Munster over the years, just as the Aviva Stadium has been for Leinster, if you can call it a fortress after four successful Heineken Cup games in the stadium to date.

The Blues will seek to extend that record against the Cardiff Blues in a match that has been scheduled for Easter Saturday at an ideal time, 5.45, for Easter revellers to hit the town afterwards.

The Leinster v Cardiff game will be preceded by Edinburgh’s clash with Toulouse in Murrayfield at 3pm, while the last quarter-final of the weekend, Saracens v Clermont Auvergne, kicks off on Sunday, 8 April at 4.30pm.

We can’t wait.

Heineken Cup Quarter-Final schedule (All games live on Sky Sports):

Saturday, 7 April

Edinburgh Rugby v Toulouse, Murrayfield 15.00

Leinster Rugby v Cardiff Blues, Aviva Stadium 17.45

Sunday, 8 April

Munster Rugby v Ulster Rugby, Thomond Park 13.45

Saracens v ASM Clermont Auvergne, Vicarage Road 16.30
