It’s that time of year folks. Here’s another highlights package and this time it is the IRB’s nominees for try of the year. Look away Keith Earls.
With Gaelic football, hurling and soccer already issuing their best goals of the year videos, the International Rugby Players Association have followed suit and announced their top four tries of 2012.
Only one northern hemisphere try makes the grade, Julien Malzieu’s effort against Italy for France. Bryan Habana’s solo sprint and kick for South Africa against New Zealand also makes it, as do two from the All Blacks themselves.
One is from this autumn, Julian Savea's fine finish against Scotland but it is the fourth and final one, Hosea Gear’s try against Ireland, that will probably win.
Painful as it is to be reminded of that 60-0 drubbing this summer, Gear’s try is probably the pick of the bunch. But if your name is Keith Earls, maybe don’t watch it again.
And if you want to vote for your favourie, check out the RWC Facebook page.
