Good news: Sean O'Brien could be back for Leinster this weekend
With plenty of Irish fans nervous about the meeting with Argentina this weekend, there was some good news in the shape of Sean O’Brien’s potential return for Leinster on Friday night.
The barnstorming back-row forward has been out of action since undergoing surgery on his hip in the summer and his presence of the 2011 ERC Player of the year has been missed by both his province and his country.
With Leinster facing crucial back to back Heineken Cup ties against Clermont early next month and the Six Nations just around the corner, O’Brien’s return to action will be welcome one and it could come as soon as this weekend.
The Tullow native trained fully for the first time all season with Leinster this afternoon and a decision about his involvement in the clash with Glasgow on Friday a decision will be made depending on how he comes through the team sessions during the week.
Isa Nacewa is also making good progress from a hand injury and is expected to return either this weekend or next, but the Glasgow game will come too soon for both Dominic Ryan and Luke Fitzgerald.
For now, however, it’s great to hear of O’Brien’s return. Welcome back Sean, you were badly missed.
