Six Lions make the RaboDirect PRO12 ‘Dream Team’. Have a go and see how many you can guess.
The season is still going, just about, but the folks at RaboDirect PRO12 HQ have released their team of the year. As it is Lions season, it no surprise to see a crossover of those who had good PRO12 seasons also get the nod from Warren Gatland.
Six in fact made both teams this week. They are Adam Jones, Alun-Wyn Jones, Justin Tipuric, Stuart Hogg, George North and Jonathan Davies.
As for the Irish representatives three Irish-based players made the grade. Ulster provide two, courtesy of Nick Williams and Luke Marshall while Ian Madigan is the only Leinster representative. Munster and Connacht don’t have anyone on the XV.
Two lads from Benetton Treviso do make it, forwards Leonardo Ghiraldini and Alessandro Zanni.
The team, selected by media members from across the countries, will be honoured at the PRO12 awards night on Sunday in Dublin, when the Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Young Player of the Year will also be announced.
