Video: Stuart Hogg denied hat-trick of tries by incredibly selfish team-mate; stadium announcer rubs it in afterwards

Stuart Hogg looked fairly p*ssed off and in fairness to him, he had a right to be.

The identity of a try-scorer shouldn’t really matter when you hockey the opposition by more than 50 points, but Scotland international Stuart Hogg had a right to be annoyed when he was denied the chance to complete a hat-trick of touchdowns in Glasgow Warriors’ 54-0 hammering of Zebre at the weekend.

Zebre were already beaten when Hogg fly-hacked the ball towards the posts and looked all set to score what would have been his third try, only to be beaten to the ball by team-mate Nikola Matawalu, who sprinted flat-out and just about got there before Hogg as both men chased the ball beyond the try-line.

Hogg looked a little bit peeved afterwards and in fairness he had a right to be as not only was he on a hat-trick, but he had done all the hard work in the build up to the try and could be seen clearly signalling to Matawalu to let him finish off the move only for Matawalu to dramatically dive in for a five-pointer of his own.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the stadium announcer even got in on the act and suggested that Hogg might be having a word with Matawalu after the game and we doubt he was too upset to see his greedy team-mate crash into the advertising hoardings in fairly painful-looking fashion immediately after scoring the try.
