Cooper in line for Wallabies recall
Mercurial out-half Quade Cooper is rumoured to be in line for a return to the Australian starting XV ahead of Saturday’s Rugby Championship encounter with New Zealand in Auckland.
The Wallabies are reeling from their 27 – 19 defeat at home to the All Blacks last weekend, with injuries and a poor display from the back line prompting calls for a return to the team for the often troubled yet hugely talented out-half.
Cooper has been out of favour since his poor showing at the World Cup where his form deserted him at the most crucial time. The Australian website last week was particularly vocal in its criticism of the out-half.
Mindful of last week’s display, coupled with the fact that the Wallabies have not won in Auckland in 26 years, Australian assistant coach Tony McGahan has dropped hints that the Queensland Reds man will be drafted into the side.
"Quade was very close to selection last week and he's certainly been discussed so far this week," the ex-Munster head coach said.
Australian fans will hope to see more of Cooper's best form as seen in the video below rather than some of his insipid displays during the World Cup. Not that Ireland fans minded last September.
