USA Rugby has released a second ad ahead of the summer international with Ireland and it’s just a little different to the first.
By Declan Whooley
We showed you earlier in the week the ad starring captain Todd Clever, leprechauns, pots of gold and the expected Irish music, which received a lot of comments online. Some found it hilarious, some found it cringe worthy, others deemed it racist and just about everyone on this side of the Atlantic found it nothing short of bizarre.
Anyway, the Eagles have a second rousing message ahead of the game and while the content is a little toned down, we still get to hear a booming voiceover more familiar to box office movies, but we never expected the sales pitch to be under-stated.
“No pads. No helmets. Big hits. That’s rugby” we are told with clips of some of the boys in green getting hit by their American counterparts during the 2011 World Cup.
Perhaps this is being oversold ever-so-slightly, but if it gets more bums on seats in Texas, then they will point to a job well done.
