Drogheda United, St Patrick's Athletic, Derry City and Sligo Rovers are all set for a big windfall after UEFA confirmed that Financial Fair Play fines will be redistributed to teams who competed in European competition last season.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are among nine clubs to be hit by fines in the first round of penalties and UEFA say that money will go to teams who played in European competition and played by the rules: "All amounts will be entirely redistributed to other clubs participating in the UEFA club competitions, since these clubs have been impacted by the non-compliance with FFP rules."
The total for all the fines came in at €24.134 million and they will be distributed in the following way - The 73 team who reached the Champions League and Europa League Group Stage will receive 80% of the money in equal shares, that's €264,482 per club.
The remaining 20% will be distributed among 155 clubs eliminated during the qualifying rounds with each of those clubs receiving €31,140. That's where Drogheda, St Patrick's Athletic, Derry City and Sligo Rovers look set to gain, not too shabby.
