We reckon he’s a great choice…

The GQ Men Of The Year Award is an annual celebration of actors, musicians, sports people, artists and high profile people of that ilk.

The award has previously been won by Kanye West, Jay-Z, Keith Richards and Led Zeppelin to name a few and this year the main award has gone to a man who has made a real difference – Michael Sam.

Michael Sam made history earlier this year for being the first openly gay player in NFL history after he was drafted by the St Louis Rams.

There was a backlash from certain parts of America at the time but Sam showed huge bravery and strength to come out and for that reason he’s been awarded title of GQ’s Man of the Year 2014.

His NFL career hasn’t quite worked out since that draft after being axed by the Rams and then a few months later by the Dallas Cowboys.

His next move is rumoured to be a stint in the Canadian Football League or the National Indoor Football League.

Sam will appear on the cover of GQ’s December issue alongside Chris Pratt, Steve Carell, Dave Chappelle, Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley.

JOE’s nomination must have got lost in the post. 2015 will be our year.
