After a six year wait, the Liam MacCarthy trophy has returned to Tipperary after the Premier County dethroned Kilkenny by 2-29 to 2-20 at Croke Park.
Tipp are the new All-Ireland hurling champions and in doing so, they ended Kilkenny’s three-in-a-row bid.
Goals from John McGrath and John “Bubbles O’Dwyer proved to be the difference while Seamus Callanan slotted over a remarkable 13 points. Michael Ryan’s side have undoubtedly been the best side in the Championship and his panel were greeted to a superb homecoming by their devoted fans.
