Mulherin sought to provide clarity on the situation on Thursday afternoon.
Fine Gael Senator Michelle Muherin has attempted to clarify matters in relation to her search for tickets to this weekend’s All-Ireland Final after she accused the GAA of discrimination having had a request for tickets denied by the association.
The Mayo Senator applied for two tickets for the clash between her native county and Dublin this Sunday, but was denied on the basis that only TDs from competing counties were eligible for tickets.
Mulherin is
quoted in the Irish Independent as saying: "In my view, this is clear discrimination by the GAA in relation to members of the Oireachtas."
"I would emphasise that my issue is with the GAA at central level and not at local level," added Mulherin.
"The work done by local GAA clubs is incredible and highly valuable for communities."
On Thursday afternoon, Mulherin, a native of Ballina, posted the letter she received from GAA Director General Padraic Duffy informing her that, due to high demand, her request for two tickets could not be facilitated.

The GAA accepts applications for tickets from TDs who are from counties competing in the All-Ireland Final, which must be purchased at full price.
Demand for tickets for this year’s All-Ireland Final has been particularly high, with tickets being flogged for well above face value in the lead-up to Sunday's game.
