Bruno Senna hopes he will still have a seat with the Renault team for next season as currently his racing career is up in the air.

Bruno, the Brazilian nephew of world famous F1 driver Ayrton Senna, first stepped into the Renault car at the start of the season as he replaced the injured Robert Kubica.

So far, Bruno has done little to emulate the skill and class of his uncle, and instead he has produced a less than impressive season. Bruno described his several F1 championship races as “interesting” on the Brazilian SporTV network, according to Forumula1.com.

“In terms of learning, it has been very difficult. I started in the middle and had to learn to use KERS and the moving wing (DRS), and the lack of experience and mileage impaired me a little,” said Senna, ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix at his home-track of Interlagos this weekend.

“I have no contract with any team for next year. My intention is to stay at Renault,” he added, noting that next year the Renault team will be called Lotus. “In Formula One it is all about performance, and the team is happy with mine.”

Bruno told his local O Estado de S.Paulo: “I am trying my hardest to stay in this seat. It depends on Kubica, on Grosjean, on sponsorship, a lot of things that, unfortunately, are not under my control. We have to get all the factors coming together.”

All Bruno can do now is finish off the season in a respectable position and hope that some spark of magic energises his performance next year. That’s if he gets his seat, of course.
