Ten of the best… Didier Drogba goals

He's about to head off to join former Chelsea buddy Nicolas Anelka and pick up loads and loads of money in China, so we've decided to pay tribute to the big Ivorian beast, Didier Drogba with ten of his best career goals.

10. Chelsea v Arsenal, Carling Cup Final, 2007

Another big occasion, another crucial goal from Drogba. Arjen Robben's cross from the left didn't have that much pace on it, but Drogba's powerful header gave Jens Lehmann no chance.

9. Chelsea v Manchester United, FA Cup Final, 2007

United beat the Blues to the Premier League that season, but in a mind-numbingly boring FA Cup final between the sides, Drogba made the difference once again with the only goal after a lovely one-two with Frank Lampard.

8. Chelsea v Portsmouth, FA Cup Final 2010

Chelsea struggled to see off the challenge of Pompey at Wembley and only had one goal to spare over them at the finish. No prizes for guessing who provided it.

7. Chelsea v Bayern Munich, Champions League Final, 2012

He's scored more spectacular goals, but fewer more significant than this one. It was still a brilliant header and the sheer power Drogba generated gave Manuel Neuer no chance. Gary Neville was certainly impressed.

6. Chelsea v Arsenal, 2009

A bit like Cristiano Ronaldo, when Drogba's free kicks go wrong (such as in the last minute of normal time in the Champions League Final) they go very, very wrong. When they go right, however, this happens.

5. Chelsea v Tottenham, FA Cup semi-final, 2012

Yet another awesome example of how Drogba is simply unplayable on his day. William Gallas tried his best to put him off, but Drogba simply muscled him aside, teed himself up with his right before cracking home the finish with his left. Unstoppable.

4. Chelsea v Bolton, 2011

Typical Drogba effort, this one. Picking the ball up unchallenged around 40 yards from goal, he takes a couple of touches before unleashing a shot that moves all over the place in the air before nestling in the roof of the net. Poor Jussi Jaaskelainen didn't know what was going on.

3. Chelsea v AC Milan, 2011

It might have only been a meaningless pre-season friendly, but how about this for a strike? Of course, John Terry did pass him the ball so he probably claimed all the credit afterwards.

2. Chelsea v Liverpool, 2006

We don't think there's a better player in the game at holding the ball up and using it to deadly effect afterwards than Drogba, and never was that better illustrated than against Liverpool in 2006. One touch off the chest and a cracking half-volley with the left foot. Stunning.

1. Chelsea v Everton, 2006

The goal against Liverpool was good, but this, against Everton a few months later, was even better. The Everton defenders were probably thinking that he wasn't going to do any damage from 35 yards, but how wrong they were. Again, unsurprisingly for Drogba, it was another crucial goal scored at a crucial time.
