Thomas Barr has finished fourth in the final of the men's 400m hurdles at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The Waterford man set an Irish record and came agonisingly close to a medal on the back straight, but Barr had just too much to do to seal Ireland's third medal of these Olympic Games.
The gold was won by Kerron Clement of the United States, with Boniface Mucheru from Kenya and Turkey's Yasmani Copello just pipping Barr to silver and bronze respectively.
While it will only come as consolation to Barr, his time of 47.97s was an Irish record and marks Barr out as the breakout star of this country's track and field competitors.
